Virgin’s surgery plans deferred

  • Comment
Virgin Healthcare appears to have postponed plans to open the first of its health centres until next year.

The company previously said it wanted it to be in operation by the end of this summer (NT News, 26 February, p2).

Under the terms proposed by Virgin, practices would pay the firm to run surgeries and administration functions, with GPs remaining on their conventional contracts.

Surgeries would include ‘add-ons’, such as dentists and podiatrists, where there is demand for the services.

Lara McLeod, Virgin’s head of communications, said the first health centre would open next year, at a location outside London, believed to be along the M4 corridor.
