Vitamins improve health of pregnant women from poorer areas

  • Comment

Taking a multivitamin supplement during pregnancy may improve the health of pregnant women and their babies from deprived communities, a study of 400 women from East London has found.

The research was carried out by the Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition at the London Metropolitan University, and Homerton University Hospital.

Women taking the vitamin supplement had fewer babies that were small for their gestational age compared to women taking a placebo.
