Wales calls in college to improve patient nutrition

  • Comment
The RCN is to help educate hospital staff in Wales on nutrition, as part of efforts to improve hospital food standards and speed up patient recovery times.

Commissioned to carry out the training by the Welsh Assembly, the RCN will provide workshops at all trusts in Wales for staff involved in the production and delivery of food. The workshops will be based on the college’s Nutrition Now campaign, which aims to help nurses make nutrition a priority for patients.

Martin Semple, RCN Wales institute head, said: ‘The college is well placed to deliver this. The workshops will be multidisciplinary and cover issues such as procurement, observations of care and development of action plans.’
