Plans to open Wales’ first nurse led walk-in centre may have moved a step closer.
Edwina Hart, Welsh minister for health and social services, said she was considering the idea after a visit this month to a walk-in centre in Bristol. The visit was organised by RCN Wales which is campaigning for their introduction.
Richard Jones, RCN Wales deputy director, who accompanied Ms Hart on her visit, said: ‘The RCN believes that accessible primary health care is vital to the prosperity and wellbeing of the community.’
The Welsh Assembly voted in favour of walk-in centres in October 2005, but the idea has yet to be developed further. There are already more than 90 such centres in England.
