Weapons threat to community staff

  • Comment
Community nurses called for better protection at last week’s Trades Union Congress in Brighton.

Julie Connolly, professional officer of the Community and District Nurses Association (CDNA), highlighted the threats faced by community nurses in a debate on lone workers.

‘CDNA have heard from a nurse who had a samurai sword pulled on her,’ she told the conference.

‘We have also had nurses who have been held by the throat in patients’ homes and just last week learnt of a nurse who has had hand pistols waved in her face,’ she added.
